Anonymous asked: A girl dressing up as a "sexy cop" is not really comparable to her dressing up as a Native American. A cop is an occupation that someone chooses. People don't choose to be Native American. When you dress as one you're marginalizing the complexity and diversity of a group of people who were greatly oppressed throughout history. You're turning a culture of nearly 500 different indigenous tribes into one tacky costume with cheap fabric, a bare mid-drift, and colored feathers. Educate yourself.

Dear self righteous anonymous,

Let me start by saying that no where in my post did I say the costume was in any way a historically accurate representation of a Native American, I simply stated that she was dressed as a very general interpretation of a Native American. May I point out that if your aurgument is that using incorrect stereotypes is offensive than why did no one seem to have a problem with the pilgrim in the photo, who was dressed as a stereotypical pilgrim and wearing far from the accurate attire of the time?  I do believe in equality and respect of every culture and race but I consider it a incredible overreaction to call a innocent costume “offensive”.
